34th IASP World Congress was held in Istanbul

Gathering world technoparks, IASP World Conference is being organized this year in Istanbul by Turkey Technoparks Consortium, which is comprised of Technopark Istanbul, METU TECHNOPARK and ITU ARI Technopark.

International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), which gathers technoparks operating around the world under one roof, held its 34th IASP World Conference meeting in Istanbul in 2017. Organized by Turkey Technoparks Consortium, which is comprised of Technopark Istanbul, METU TECHNOPARK and ITU ARI Technopark, World Technoparks Association Conference was held at Swiss Hotel on 26-29 September 2017. With participation of more than 500 attendees from 50 countries, IASP 2017 Istanbul gathered the world's R&D and Innovation ecosystem in Istanbul.

Strategies Were Shared

34th IASP World Congress was organized by Turkey Technoparks Consortium with the support of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. Turkey Technoparks Consortium is comprised of Technopark Istanbul, METU TECHNOPARK and ITU ARI Technopark and supported by Technology Development Zones Association (TGBD). Robustly representing 71 technoparks from around the world and 17 members from technoparks based in Turkey, IASP hosted nearly 500 visitors from 40 countries at Istanbul Swissotel The Bosphorus. Foreign technopark partners and consortium members flocked to IASP 2017, whose theme was determined as "From technoparks to natural technology ecosystems: Overcoming risks with strategies, comparisons and solution proposals".

From China to America...

There were many important speakers at IASP 2017, which was held in Istanbul, a leading center of value-added production. After the opening ceremony and speech, many participants from China to Spain and from Brazil to Sweden gave important information about science parks, innovation flows, the future of consumption and the new habitats of innovations. Alongside the participants who would emphasize critical points between 12:30 and 13:00, as well as those from America and Italy to make presentations as of 14:30, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Erten, General Manager of Technopark Izmir, went up to the rostrum and discussed the success of Hack'n Break within the framework of open innovation.

Turkey's Technoparks Are on the Stage

After 16:30, Başak Özcan made a presentation on the role of mentorship in the success of entrepreneurship, and the presentation of Faruk İnaltekin, General Manager of Bilkent CYBERPARK, and İmran Gurakan regarding the Start-Up doping was followed by the presentation of Deniz Tunçalp from ITU ARI Technopark and Gülşah Üstelci on the new incubation concepts. İsmail Arı, General Manager of Technopark Istanbul, made a speech on the importance of design in innovation, before Bilgin Yazlık, General Manager of Erciyes Technopark, shared his knowledge about Sera incubation system.

Innovation Vision Was Discussed

On 28 September 2017, the key topics were smart future, innovation management and technology. The speeches started on 09.30 and were followed by the session on 11.30 where the future's vision was handled. The flow of the 28 September schedule consisted of figures such as İsmail Arı, Nuray Tanış and Özgür Karayalçın as well as the presentations of participants from around the world.

On the other hand, the topic of agenda will be the new ecosystems on 29 September, and the participants will share their research findings on the development of innovation and entrepreneurship at science parks. İsmail Arı, General Manager of Technopark Istanbul, will give a speech also on the last day.
