Domestic Medication Searches for Cancer Treatment are Seen for the First Time

TÜBİTAK's studies on locally-produced drugs to be used in the treatment of head and neck cancers continue. Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank examined the studies conducted by the Turkish Scientific and the Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) for the local production of drugs to be used in the treatment of head and neck cancers. Studies to develop biosimilar cancer drugs were monitored in a laboratory environment for the first time. All production stages of the Biosimilar Cancer-Treatment Drug Development and Production Project (BIOSIM) were examined on-site.

The drugs will be produced in Turkey and commercialized in the coming years, and as they are locally produced, they will be cheaper than the reference drug, thus preventing foreign currency outflow. Also, it will be possible to export these locally produced cancer drugs.
