Technology that Solves Math Problems at Universities by Facebook
The mathematician artificial intelligence created by the developers at Facebook can solve college-level problems in seconds... François Charton and Guillaume Lample from Facebook AI Research trained artificial intelligence on higher mathematics problems. Among the problems, there are mathematical expressions that are frequently used in mathematics and using integral to calculate the area under the curve.
It was used to solve problems in Natural Language Processing (NLP), a computational tool frequently used in language analysis. This method worked because the mathematics in every problem can be thought of as a language. For example, while the variable 'x' played the role of nouns and operations, taking the square root replaced the verbs. Afterward, artificial intelligence translated the problems into solutions. Facebook states that the artificial intelligence, which it tested with 500 problems, reached 98% accuracy. The accuracy rate of a standard program is 85%.
The team gave differential equations to artificial intelligence to solve it, but it was necessary to take an integral to solve this. For this reason, the performance of artificial intelligence remained low in these problems.
In respect thereof, Charton states that solving mathematical problems is not practical in the computer environment, but if artificial intelligence is developed, it can be overcome with mathematical problems that people have difficulty in solving.
