Turkey's Automobile Initiative Group introduced the domestic car in two versions, an SUV and a sedan model. The launch took place in the Technology Development Zone in Gebze. President Erdogan, ministers and more than 3000 guests attended the event. The interior designs of domestic cars, as well as their announced features, were highly acclaimed and caused excitement throughout the country. The domestic car is scheduled to be on the roads in 2022.
The car stands out with its faster charging than other electric vehicles, and its fuel cost is also low. The car, which provides a range of 300 and 500 kilometers, has two different battery options.
In addition, the tank of the domestic cars fills in 30 minutes and can travel 500 kilometers. With a battery life of eight years, the maintenance cost of cars is also quite low. It has a very low maintenance cost due to the lack of many of the mechanisms that gasoline and diesel vehicles have.
President Erdogan said that the domestic cars are produced in Gemlik, Bursa, that 1 million square meters out of an area of 4 million square meters belonging to TSK will be used for the production site of the domestic car, and that the network of charging stations in Turkey will be ready in 2022.
TOBB/TOGG Chairman Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu and TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş emphasized that the Intellectual Property Rights of the domestic car will belong to Turkey, that the patents of all technologies used in the domestic car will belong to TOGG, and that other companies cannot use these patents.
In addition, TOGG CEO Gürcan Karakaş mentioned in his speeches that the production is focused on the SUV model, that this model is eligible for improvement all over the world, that besides C-SUV and C-SEDAN, we will see fully electric C-HATCHBACK, B-SUV and C-MPV models by 2030, and that all models will target foreign markets.
