EAPO 2024 Patent Statistics: Growth in Applications and Global Interest

The Eurasian Patent Office summed up the results of 2024. In total, the Eurasian Patent Office issued 2908 patents for inventions in 2024. 3252 applications for the issuance of Eurasian patents for inventions were received. The most popular areas are pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, fine organic chemistry and medical equipment. In total, 75046 Eurasian applications for inventions were filed with the EAPO from 1996 to 2024. The number of applications filed directly with the EAPO (22% of the total number filed in 2024) and applications filed through the national patent offices of the EAPO countries (17% of the total number filed in 2024) increased. The most active applicant, as in previous years, is the United States - 29.4% of all applications for inventions filed with the EAPO. At the same time, China's interest in the Eurasian patent has grown significantly - plus 9.7% of applications for patenting inventions and twice as many applications for industrial designs.



As a result, China entered the top three together with the USA and Russia. As for Eurasian applications from the EAPC member states, their number increased by 18% compared to 2023. The largest number of applications comes from Russia. In second place is Kazakhstan, in third place is Belarus. The EAPO confirmed the world-class quality level at all stages of consideration of Eurasian applications: from their filing to the issuance of patents - a certificate of compliance of the EAPO quality management system with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015 was received.
