The Highest Number Of Patent Applications In The Field Of Technology In Turkey 2020
With the mission of unleashing Turkey's competencies in technology development-commercialization with patent data and make the patent ecosystem's progress visible, the 2020 Turkey Patent Report prepared by the Patent Effect has been declared.
Analyzing the patent and utility model applications made by all organizations and persons in Turkey separately according to 20 different sector / technology categories, the report suggests that there is an increase of up to 227% in the patent applications published in the field of artificial intelligence in the last 5 years. When we look at the stunning change in last year (2019-2020), even though there is a general tendency to decrease, it was identified that there is a certain increase in the categories of Medical Technologies, Textile, Finance, and Medicine.
Artificial Intelligence
According to data of the Turkey Patent Report, there is an increase of up to 227% in patent applications linked with the field of artificial intelligence in the last 5 years.
In the ranking list of firms making the most artificial intelligence-related patent applications, Turkcell has the rank number one, Vestel has the second place and the third is Aselsan. And in the ranking list of universities/ research centers, Istanbul University hits the top whereas TUBITAK is the second and the third is Osmangazi University.
Data Analytics
In patent applications published in the field of data analytics, there is an increasing trend since 2015. During the process of last 5 years (2016-2020), there is an increase of up to 93% in the applications made in this field.
