The Message of this Year's World Intellectual Property Rights Day was

The theme of this year's "World Intellectual Property Rights Day", celebrated annually on April 26, is "Innovation for a Green Future".

WIPO has evaluated international patent applications in four categories of green energy technologies.

1. Alternative Energy Generation, Particularly Renewable Energy Technologies
2. Energy Conservation Technologies
3. Green Transportation
4. Nuclear Power Generation

Thanks to energy-efficient technologies and innovations in transportation, "efficient technologies" have increased by 9% since 2013.

Japan, China, the United States, Germany and the Republic of Korea account for more than 76% of all environmental practices.
