Turkey's First Particle Accelerator Lab was Opened
Turkey's first particle accelerator lab is opened at Hacettepe University.
Radioactive materials to be produced in the laboratory will facilitate the early diagnosis of neurological diseases and cancer.
Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Tuncer emphasized the importance of early diagnosis in the treatment of diseases in his speech at the opening ceremony at Hacettepe Oncology Hospital.
Explaining that a marked substance indicating the location of deteriorations within the cell was produced in the laboratory, Tuncer said, "It is a substance the cell normally uses, but we turn it into a marked substance. We know which cell is broken and where. In other words, after the domestic car, we also produce local medicine."
