The Domestic Electric Locomotive Passed the Tests
"The Meeting of On-site Inspections and Final Report" of the project called "Development of the E1000 Type Electrical Locomotive", which was conducted by TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute and coordinated by the General Directorate of TÜLOMSAŞ, having the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication and the General Directorate of Turkish State Railways as the Guest Institutions, was held at TÜLOMSAŞ Eskişehir facilities on February 26, 2016.
E1000 Has Passed the Tests Successfully
In the test drive, the locomotive to which 1000 tones of kerb weight were attached, was tested in a flat road. During the tests, series deceleration and slip prevention systems during stop-starts were successfully tested, and the target of 65 km/h with 1000 tones of load was achieved. Being tested in the inclined road on Bilecik ramps in November, 2015, the locomotive successfully passed the stop-start tests at 2,8 % slope with 520 tones of load, and regenerative decline and stop tests with 520 tones of load.
What is E1000?
Through the E1000 Project, the most powerful vehicle with traction control system and a domestic production in Turkey, an electrical locomotive with 1 MW traction power and modern AC driving system was developed and its prototype was produced in order to meet TCDD's (Turkish State Railways) demand for maneuver and short distance transport. Rail monitoring and control systems such as traction converter, traction control unit, and central control unit, which are high value-added compounds of rail systems owned only by the developed countries in the world, were designed and produced in our country.
Supplied from foreign countries and making almost half of the locomotive expenses, sub-system compounds such as; Traction converter (for the first time with E1000 project) Traction control unit (for the first time with E1000 project) Locomotive central control unit (for the first time with E1000 project) Traction power distribution unit (for the first time with E1000 project) Auxiliary power unit Locomotive command and tracking unit softwares were completely designed and produced in our country.
Two More Locomotives Will Be Produced in the Next 28 Months
PSUP (Project Results Implementation Plan) will start with the approval of the final report of the project, total domestic production amount of which is over 90 percent. The prototype locomotive will be delivered to the General Directorate of Turkish State Railways. Within the scope of PSUP, two more locomotive will be produced by TÜLOMSAŞ and MAM Energy Institute in the next 28 months to be offered to the service of Turkish State Railways.
