They Made Turkey Proud with their Performance at the Robot Competition in the US

In the World Robot Olympic Games, with a thousand contestants from 39 countries, students from Işıklar Military Aviation High School won two world championships with two separate projects, one of which is for the disabled.

BURSA (AA) - The Robot and Programming Team students from Işıklar Military Aviation High School won two world championships in the World Robot Olympic Games (ROBOGAMES) in the USA, to which over a thousand people from 39 countries participated, with "Barrier-free Living Project" and the robot they designed.

The Robot and Programming Team from Işıklar Military Aviation High School that attended the ROBOGAMES, which was organized in California and had over a thousand contestants from 39 countries including Japan, South Korea, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Germany, France, Russia, and India, took the first place in two categories leaving other competitors behind.

The military students, under the supervision of Aviation Teacher Lieutenant Hüsnü Turhan, displayed their skills in "Best of Show" and "Balancer Race" categories in ROBOGAMES, which got into the Guinnes Book of World Records by being the largest robot competition with largest participation.

"Barrier-free Life" project (Smart Systems that Can be Controlled by Brain Waves and Head Movements), which was evaluated by a jury of representatives of organizations such as NASA and INTEL and academicians from different universities for three days in terms of innovation, benefit, practicality, and originality criteria, was granted the gold medal in "Best of Show" category.

"We represented our school and our country in the first place"

Eleventh grade student İrfan Akarsu, who participated in ROBOGAMES on behalf of "Robot and Programming Team", explained that they had participated in four different competitions in Turkey with Barrier-free Living project this year and added:

"We took the first place in all these competitions. We attended international competitions to represent our country in foreign countries. We attended ROBOGAMES, which is organized in America and has the largest number of international participants. Our team is the first Turkish contestant in this competition. We took the first place in two categories with Barrier-free Living Project and a balance robot we designed. These rankings are a first for Turkey. We represented our school and our country in the first place."
