Support to the R&D Projects
In order to encourage the R&D activities of electricity distribution companies for reducing loss and leakage rates, Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), has allocated a budget of 203 million liras for 5 years.
According to the written explanation of EPDK, the companies that would like to benefit from this budget will submit the subject or study they would like to work on to EPDK, and start working after the approval of the Authority. It's been also stated that the budgets allocated for companies, which fail to create a project or to convince EPDK, will be retrieved by the Authority.
It has also been noted in the explanation that a great progress has been made in projects called "Energy Encryption", "Preventing Studies by Electricity Distribution Companies on Electrical Loss and Leakage", "Methodology and Software Development for Determining the Most Accurate Technical Level of Loss and Leakage in Electricity Distribution Networks", and "Smart Seal (SMS) Smart Electronic Seal System Development).
It has been stated that in case of any need of investments concerning the reduction of loss and leakage with projects created in the scope of R&D activities, these costs have been mostly covered. Mustafa Yılmaz, the President of EPDK, who was also asked to explain his opinions, said: "We have come a long way through our struggle with loss and leakage towards the goals set by our government and in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The projects improving. We will undertake many projects for reducing loss and leakage in the following process and make great progress by realizing those projects."
