The first laboratory for developing national turbines in Turkey opens in Ankara in cooperation of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and Middle East Technical University (METU).

ANKARA (AA) - The first laboratory for developing national turbines in Turkey opens in Ankara in cooperation of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and Middle East Technical University (METU).

According to the written explanation of METU, the research and development (R&D) laboratory, where the materials for the first national turbine technology will be developed, has commenced in METU campus. It was stated that the Laboratory for Thin Film and Deposition Research, which was established as a result of two years of preliminary studies on the equity capital of TÜBİTAK and METU, cost a total of 3 million liras.

It was stated that materials to be used in energy, defense, communication, electronic-optic, and space technologies can be developed in the laboratory, where research on producing the necessary materials for the development of national aero-motor and aero-pulse technologies in Turkey can be done.

While it was emphasized that materials for the turbine engines of İstanbul-Ambarlı natural gas power plant would be developed in the laboratory, it was also stated that the material technology for the turbine engines of all natural gas power plants in Turkey could be developed.
