Qualified Consultants will be Appointed to 'Trademark Schools'

Kemal Yamankaradeniz, the CEO of Destek Patent, explained that they were working with İŞKUR on a new project called "Brand School".

Destek Patent has started negotiations with İŞKUR concerning the new project. As to the project, university graduates will be trained to become qualified consultants. Those who get certified at the end of the project will be able to work as trademark director, trademark, design, and patent experts for the companies. Kemal Yamankaradeniz, the CEO of Destek Patent: "We want to make Brand School a center of human resources that will meet the need of companies."

Speaking to DÜNYA (a Turkish news agency), Kemal Yamankaradeniz, the CEO of Destek Patent, stated that they had a project called 'Brand School'. Asserting that they continue negotiations with İŞ-KUR for this project, Yamankaradeniz said that they wanted to provide fresh university graduates with occupation through 'Brand School'. Yamankaradeniz suggested that they will work to make these people trademark directors, trademark, design, and patent experts of companies. Stating that they want to make 'Brand School' a center of human resources to meet the need of companies, Yamankaradeniz added: "The name of this job is brand manager. Now, as the companies grow and the brands gain power, there is a need for brand manager. Brand managers keep track of the brand's development and decide the medium of advertisement if the brand is to be advertised. It's the brand of companies that will be at the forefront now, not their names. Brand manager is important for a company. Today, the companies that develop their brands increase their income."

"We are waiting for the Intellectual Property Rights Code"

On the other hand, Yamankaradeniz noted that they expected the Intellectual Property Rights Code to be enacted by the end of the year. Stating that they have striven for three law acts so far, Yamankaradeniz explained that this law was not on the list to be passed by the Council before holiday, but that they expected it to be enacted by the end of the year. Suggesting that Turkey will gain a lot once the law is passed, Yamankaradeniz added: "It will be a legislation that will accelerate the processes for Turkey and protect the brands, patents and designs of both local and foreign investors. That is why it will play an important role in inventing new technologies and providing Turkey with new technologies."

Our home textile businessmen challenge China'

Yamankaradeniz pointed out the importance of integrating technology into design, which he claimed would lead to efficiency. Emphasizing the need for a pure technology engineering design, Yamankaradeniz stated that the businessmen from home textile compete with the world, and challenge China. Yamankaradeniz pointed out the necessity of advancing in both technology and design, and he added: "So, the innovations in design are also in the scope of this upcoming law. Design center has been subjected to R&D. We cannot protect the designs effectively, and it is not enforced by the law either. If the Intellectual Property Rights Law is passed, the designs will be protected effectively."

Software is not fully protected in Turkey'

Kemal Yamankaradeniz stated that the regulations concerning the patent applications of universities would be included in the upcoming law. Yamankaradeniz noted that when it came to patent applications, it's the academicians who applied for patent. Claiming that the universities do not apply for patent, Yamankaradeniz stated that the new law enforces a set of rules on both academicians and universities to make their own patent applications. Yamankaradeniz also stated that it was clear in which cases the university or the academicians would make the application. On the other hand, Yamankaradeniz pointed out that commissions would be established to decide the numerical dimension of the inventions of employees, and other commissions to detect the value of the inventions of employees working at industrial companies, and "The inventions of employees will be included in the law too. They will be able to get 85 percent share" he added.

Claiming that there is no protection of software in Turkey, Yamankaradeniz stated that software was protected only when it's used with a product, and that there was no protection for a pure software marketed. Stating that this protection exists in the form of intellectual property rights, Kemal Yamankaradeniz added: "However, we have hundreds of software integrated into products. There are almost no products that do not involve software. Technology is everywhere."

Industrialists will be relieved'

Mentioning a work called Turkish Patent and Trademark Office by the Department of Turkish Patent, Yamankaradeniz stated that the work included important points regarding the patent attorneys. Stating that the cases, in which patent attorneys do not fulfill their duties or abuse them, to be interfered are already specified, Yamankaradeniz added: "The concept of patent attorney will make the office (Turkish Patent and Trademark Office) more institutional. When we have these, Turkey will possess a stable legislation, a strong institution, and a firm system of attorney-ship. We do have specialized courts. If the number of specialized courts increases, a safe and intact system will be completely set up. From now on, our industrialists will be relieved."
