They Produced the Electric Automobile They Designed in just a Month

5 Mechanical and Automotive Engineering students from Uludağ University (UU) produced the electric car they designed in a month with the project support they received from TUBITAK.

The two-seater "ULUMAK", which is powered by the battery in its trunk, can reach a speed of 90 kilometers per hour.

The team coordinator Yücel Yıldırım (25) told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the vehicle they produced is a first at Uludağ University.

Stating that they produced the vehicle by working tirelessly for a month, Yıldırım said, "This is a locally produced electric vehicle that can go at a speed of 80 to 90 kilometers per hour. We tried to produce an automobile that can be driven under normal traffic conditions. So, our design is not any different from than that of a real car. The vehicle cannot pass the performance tests without its security equipment, anyway. Our vehicle successfully completed all three stages of the performance test without any problems".

Charges up in 8 hours, covers a distance of 70 kilometers
Yıldırım told that the vehicle can be fully charged up in 8 hours and a distance of 70 kilometers can be covered with a full battery.

Noting that they produced the car at 25 thousand Turkish Liras thanks to the support they received from TUBITAK, Yıldırım stated that they did not make any profit producing the vehicle, which they donated to the university, and that they only wanted to contribute to the development of the country.

Mehmet Emin Çelik, a Mechanical Engineering student who took part in the design of "ULUMAK", stated that the 400-kilogram vehicle is 3.4 meters long and its height and width are 1.6 meters.
